In modern life, internet is as important as the fresh air we breath in and out every moment we live. It is big part of people's daily life. In my perspective, the goverment should provide people with internet for free.
First of all, within free internet, poor people who used to be unable to afford could enjoy the online resource as well as other people. Although, the goverment is increasing putting a huge measurement of money on education every year, comparing to the enormous population in China, this amount of money couldn't improve the level of education remarkably. However, if the internet is open for free, those poor students could have a chance to study on the internet. In fact, it will save some of the money. As far as I know, one town named Spring in Hangzhou, China, is offering free internet to the Spring town's citizens. Happily, a research report about the education of the town shows the number of students goes to college has increased by 12percent since the decision of the local goverment.
Besides, free internet will lead people to have better internet services. There is no doubt that some communication company is exploiting their customers because of monopoly. These companys set the prize over high and offer unstable internet. However, within the free internet porvide by the goverment, these companys will lose their important chips. This goverment policy will encourge the communication company to imporve their products in order to still be able to earn money from people who want to enjoy higher speed internet than free one. In that way, the customer can have a more stable and higher speed internet in a lower prize. 
In a nutshell, free internet can bensfits everyone not just poor people. It can not only makes fair opportunities for education but also helps improving living standard.
