The reading and listening material focus on whether human can set permanent presence on Venus. The reading says it would be impossible. However, the listening contends that human can set a floating area above the surface to make things possible.

Firtst of all, the reading material suggests that the atmospheric pressure on the Venus' surface is so high that it will crushs all the human things which land on. Nevertheless, on the basis of the listeing part, the professor illustrates that by setting the floating place above the ground about 50 kilometers, the pressure will be small and as same as that on earth.

Second, the reaidng passage proposes that there are no water reservoirs on Venus' surface and even no oxygen due to the atmosphere made up mostly of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfuric acid. However, the professor opposes this idea by saying that people can use those chemicals to create the water and oxygen. People can add some chemical materials with those elements and thus create the important sources that are useful for living. 

At last, the reading says that the thick clonds in the Venus' atmosphere reflects the sunlight so that there are little sunlight can reach the Venus' surface, and humans could not get enough electronic energy generate from that. On the contrary, the listening says that in such a elevation, where set the floating area, the clonds are not very thick and people can also absorb the sunlight both above the clound and the light reflected by it.
