There is a argument recent days that whether teachers were more appreciated and valued by society in the past than they were nowadays. Some people agree with that while others hold the opposite opinion, saying that with the developing of the society, teachers are being paid more and more respects. As far as I'm concerned, I hold the opinion that teaches are more appreciated nowadays.
First, as the population is growing faster, more and more kids are in need of good education, so teachers have to shoulder more responsibilities than before. Thus they are surely appreciated. Second, what the education contributes to the development of economy
