Nowadays, people hold divergent views about whether if the most important characteristic of a good leader is honesty. The majority of the people would say that being honest is the most important characteristic and is also very essential because the other people will know anything happens and the leader will not conceal about anything. However, from my perspective, I do not agree that honesty is the most important and there are two other important characteristics that can replace honesty. To begin with, being collaborative and communicative is the most important characteristics. That is because the leader has to lead the group and will have great pressure on the leader. All talking must be done by the leader, such as how did the group go, and is anyone not behaving well. Meanwhile, the leader must give instructions to the members of the group, lead discussions, find problems and redo… there are a lot of talking task for the leader. At the end, the leader must report it to staffs of the final decisions or products. Take a random student organization for example, the leader will lead the discussion first and try to let everyone get involved in the group. Off course there will be multiple of the discussion and including strategies and the ability to problem solve. As the group members started working, the leader will need to give suggestions and solve problems, meanwhile need to run to talk to the teachers of how did it go. Whether if there is any problems. At last, the leader will transfer the things to the staffs. Indeed, being collaborate and communicative is very important and it would get the leader stressed out. Furthermore, being able to hold a positive attitude and having to motivated and encourage each other. That is because when problems came, if the leader rejected or even scared of the challenge, it will absolutely be a fail group. Every good leader should have a positive attitude, an attitude that nothing is impossible. It is the only way to face difficulties or challenges. And the leader can teach members of the group to see things positively and have a more optimistic attitude. A good leader provides motivators to improve the performance of employees and challenge them to achieve better quality in their work in order to encourage the group members. There are some emotional support to the group members to encourage them to kept going without stop. They recognize the importance of encouraging and inspiring confidence and also recognized the merits of a job well done. Take another random student organization as an example, a lot of group members as they’re working, lots of them started yawning and complaining, the leader must confine not to complain while encouraging the group members, the leader will keep in an optimistic attitude. To sum up, honesty is needed, but not that important compared with being collaborative and holding a positive attitude. Because the two characteristics while encouraging the group members, the leader will keep in an optimistic attitude. To sum up, honesty is needed, but not that important compared with being collaborative and holding a positive attitude. Because the two characteristics can make a great difference to the group.
