The reading and listening passage have a conflicting opinions about red rain in Kerala. The writer states that there are some theories which may explain the phenomenon, providing three reasons which contradicted by the following lecture. 

Firstly, the writer deems that the comet will cause the red rain. However, the speaker disagrees. She deems that it is imaginative. Actually, according to the official document, the comet will occur over hundreds of year. Instead, the red rain appear every ten years. Besides, the noisy sound is thunder when it is raining rather than the rushing of comet. 

Secondly, the writer claims that the red sand blowed from North Africa or Arabia lead to the red rain. Nonetheless, the professor rebuts the idea. She says that dust carried by wind from both of places have their own chemistry, such as iron and phospherous jiu
