Along with the increasing responsibility of governments, there're many industries that needs the governments' help. Some people believe that the governments should support the athletics because they can win honor to the country. I, however, disagree. Although it's true that sports can benefit the society to some extent, I suggest that the government should support arts.

To start with, with the government's support in arts, we can improve the citizens' knowledge standard. Because that admiring art masterpieces, including musical concerts, paintings, sculptures, requires basic level of knowledge. We cannot expect a person who knows little about the society of the 18th century can admire Mozart's Symphonies. According to a recent survey conducted by BBC, among about 10000 responsers around the world, people who have a good taste of the state of arts are in the countries which have a high standard of education. From this, we can indicate that when governments support arts, the citizens ill acquire more knowledge, and thus, will increase the average level of knowledge of them.

Further more, spend more on arts industries can help improve the public well-being of society. It is a fact that our emotion can be recovered by admiring arts like paintings and music concertos. When we're listening to a Bach's music concert, we have to concentrate on the melody, and imagine the scene of the music, and this will cover the madness in our mind. Similarly, when we are admiring the masterpiece of Da Vincy, the person on the painting always shows a sense of honor and happiness that will also influence. The life will become peaceful if we enjoy arts. Therefore, put more on arts can increase the well-being of the society.

Admittedly, spending money on sports might win the games internationally, and to some extent, honor the country. When the national song is singing around the football court, everyone around the country will gain a sense of honor from the deepest point of their heart. However, honor the country is not the whole picture. What the government's responsibility is to improve the social well-being and the prosperity of the country. I don't believe the honor by the sports can actually help the poor people or support more students.

I think the above is enough to draw the conclution that support the arts is a great approach to increase the education level and well-being of the society, although sports might have some benefit on the international reputation. Therefore, I choose to support arts industries.
